TSAROUCHIS Yannis “Zea Harbor”, 1964

Zea Harbor (1964)

Yannis Tsarouchis is one of the most important representatives of the so called 30’s Generation, the artists of which aimed at the renewal of Greek art seeking their inspiration in the combination of rich Greek tradition with the modern European spirit. Tsarouchis paints his subjects with lyricism and realism simultaneously. He uses frugal chromatic scale in order to depict the nature, the buildings, the persons as pieces of a huge setting, sometimes enchanting and sometimes no. Moreover, in parallel with his pictorial work, his occupation with stage design was equally important and rich.
