STEFANOU Takis (1945) “Ovoids”

In perpetual pursuit of the `primordial form` that exists in nature – in the structure of crystals, in the weave of metals, in the architecture of plants – and of the order and proportions that constitute the universe, Takis Stefanou creates works that obey these eternal cannons. However, the reduction to these archetypal images does not occur solely through knowledge of mathematics and physics, but also with his use of pure, natural materials of the earth: lava, earth, stone, ash, and rust. He also follows the same route in his effort to escape the boundaries of the canvas in order to render the space in his two-dimensional constructions with the same cosmic harmony
