Description
Papachristopoulos depicts the women in a variety of poses, immortalised in their most intimate moments, such as when bathing, sleeping, or resting. The Reunion is reminiscent of the famous Kiss of Rodin in depicting the passionate embrace of two lovers who convey the feeling that one figure is 'melting' into the other. The figures are modelled with flowing plasticity, with the rounded masses rendering the different parts of the body - the breasts, the belly, the legs. The simplification of the form lends a sense of purity to his sculpture, as it is relieved of superfluous adornments and decorative loquacity, and recalls a romantic age, though retaining the artist's individual stamp.
