With the Averoff Gallery Artists: A Guide for Young People

An illustrated guidebook for young people by Marisa De Castro, but also for all art lovers, educators, and parents. The author selected 21 paintings of earlier and contemporary painters from the Averoff Art Gallery permanent display, representing the movements and styles of two prolific centuries – the nineteenth and the twentieth – and the ideas that shaped painting. Structured around the Gallery’s layout, the guidebook proposes a path for exploring the history of Modern-Greek painting and enabling visitors to tour the premises, to contemplate on the historical circumstances, and discover the artists’ stories.
