ROKOS Kyriakos (1945) “Composition”

In Rokos` sculpture, faces, body parts, architectural elements, and geometric shapes are all rendered fragmentarily and often enlarged. They crowd into a dense amalgams and/or emerge from the relief surface or try to break through the material mass and enter into existence with a cosmogonic bang. Features linking history, origin and sentiment permeate Rokos` work with a sense of profusion and enable the imagination to travel. A compact unity of commentary and structure gives these surrealistic-enigmatic amalgams something of the quality of the Greek sculptural heritage.
